Two hikers came across a macabre scene in Pacific Palisades over the weekend.

They found a skull in Los Liones Canyon, and paramedics and police were soon on the scene. Arriving officers then apparently discovered the rest of the body, a “torso,” about 20 feet away, according to an LAPD statement.

The find was reported …

… at 11:15 a.m. in the 500 block of Los Liones Drive, police said.

The LAPD:

Upon arrival, officers were directed to an area near a hiking trail not far from the entrance to the Los Liones Canyon Trail where they observed the remains of what appeared to be a human skull. Officers checked the area and observed the skeletal remains of a human torso approximately twenty feet from the skull.

They don't know much more about the creepy discovery. The L.A. county coroner's office will conduct an autopsy and, if we're lucky, come up with an ID.

In the meantime, cops are looking for info about the body. If you know anything call detectives at 213-382-9470.
