Thirsty Crow serves up ultrapremium cocktails fit for Don Draper. Stirred up by knowledgeable, well-schooled barkeeps, the drinks feature expensive ryes, special ginger beers, orange zest, fresh juices and even real maraschino cherries — the dark ones, not those bright red formaldehyde monstrosities you usually get. But the cocktails come with a steep price tag: $12, which is not the kind of money you were expecting to pay when you moved to Silver Lake. (Also, it gets quite crowded.) If, however, you're able to arrive before the masses do, your burden will be greatly reduced. Monday through Saturday, 5-8 p.m., and Sundays, 2-7 p.m., the Thirsty Crow's happy hour offers everything on the specialty menu — from a traditional Manhattan and a Sloe Gin Fizz to a Caipirinha — for only $5. For those prices you might as well have two, or even three, if math isn't your strong suit. 2939 W. Sunset Blvd., Silver Lake. (323) 661-6007, thirstycrowbar.com. —Ben Westhoff
