For a bathroom stop while jogging on the beach in Santa Monica, the obvious choice is to either (1) stand in line at the city's artsy new public stalls designed by Roesling Nakamura Terada Architects; or (2) turn due west across the sand and work up the nerve to wade into the cold ocean before time runs out. But there's actually a third alternative: Turn east up the path toward Pico Boulevard, make a left into Shutters on the Beach and walk through the front door. You don't think you can — but you can. In fact, the doormen at this fancy “it” hotel will open the door and say, “Welcome.” Pass the Ellworth Kellys behind the front desk, and dart around the Sam Francis lithograph. Enter a top-notch marble-floored situation, where you can even have your own stall with full doors. Exit past the Jasper Johns along the wall on the right and the David Hockney behind the piano. Nod to the doormen. It's OK. 1 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica. (310) 458-0030,
