Ever been to one of those movies that would have been significantly better if it had been paired with a stiff drink? This is why we love the Sundance Sunset 5 Cinema, although the movies screened here tend to be of a much higher quality than the standard mega-plex fare anyhow. In addition to a menu of delicious gourmet meals and snacks, the theater — the former Laemmle Sunset 5, taken over and renovated by Robert Redford's Sundance Cinemas last year — boasts a curated art gallery and an outdoor patio. Its lovely lounge sports oversized leather couches and chairs, perfect for discussing thought-provoking films. The impressive wine list and beer selection make moviegoing here a sophisticated adult activity that would be perfect for impressing a first date or out-of-town guests. The steeper-than-average prices reflect the atmosphere, but with validated parking and celebrity sightings galore, it is more than worth the couple extra dollars. 8000 Sunset Blvd., W. Hlywd., 90046.
