Dennis RomeroFive people were injured in a stabbing that took place on a sidewalk between two downtown L.A. nightclubs, the Belasco Theater and the Mayan, early this morning, police said.
Pedro Garcia, 19, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, police told us. Felipe Serrano, 26, was booked on suspicion of battery with injury, they said:
The knife attacks happened about 2:30 a.m. between the venues, Officer Sara Faden told the Weekly.
It doesn't appear to us that the Mayan was open last night (its schedule turned up no events that we could find).
The Belasco has a running, 18-and-older Latino hip-hop night called Belasco Thursdays or Kingdom Thursday.
Last night was promoted as a college party featuring a “Cal State Los Angeles and Cal State Dominguez Hills takeover.” Police originally said the stabbing had happened outside the venue.

Faden says there were actually six victims total but that one who was lashed at with a knife was not injured, though his jacket might be damaged.
The four worst victims were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, she said: Another victim drove to a hospital.
It appeared that cops quickly nabbed two suspects.
Faden characterized it as a “fight” that ended with the stabbings: Motive was not clear.
We reached out to the Belasco but could not reach anyone.
The circa-1907 theater was renovated and reopened in 2011 as a superclub.
[Added at 12:04 p.m. Monday]: A representative of the Mayan called to confirm that the club was open that night.
