The cause of death for a man found in his ransacked Venice apartment was yet to be determined.

Coroner's officials identified the deceased as 54-year-old Anthony Perini. They told the Weekly today that further tests would need to be conducted in order to come to a conclusion about how he died.

In the meantime …

… LAPD West Bureau homicide detectives were investigating the case as a possible murder, we were told.

Perini's body was found Jan. 22 shortly before 8 p.m. by his brother after the latter went to check on the victim because he hadn't heard from him for “several days,” police told us.

The deceased was inside his apartment in the 1500 block of Venice Boulevard, cops said. LAPD Officer Christopher No told the Weekly:
