The 2005 Mazda that first hit Brooks was heading south at 35 miles per hour, cops said: It kept going after shots rang out.

Inside was a scared, 37-year-old named Keetha Knox, who went home and called 911, according to CNS.

Lt. Milton Murphy indicated that she's not in trouble:

She is not under arrest, and this is not considered a hit-and-run at this point.

Only in L.A? The attack was unusual enough that the CHP was helping the sheriff's department in its efforts to track down the gunman. City News indicated that the suspect knew the victim.
