In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, and just ahead of World Schizophrenia Awareness Day on Saturday, May 24,  the Express Your PosSCZible: Talent Showcase will take place on Saturday, May 17, at the GRAMMY Museum

This inspiring event will showcase performances from individuals living with schizophrenia, bringing the community together to share their powerful stories and talents in music, poetry, comedy, and other performing arts. Societal stigma has hindered the goals and dreams of many people living with schizophrenia, and the evening aims to challenge perceptions and change the narrative.

The event will be hosted by Broadway, television, and movie actor and author Taye Diggs and his sister, Christian Diggs, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia as a young adult. Together, they’ve partnered with Bristol Myers Squibb for the Live Your PosSCZible initiative that aims to shed light on the possibilities and achievements of people living with schizophrenia, while providing support and resources to take action.

Society often tells people living with schizophrenia that they cannot live a full life, and they have to put their goals and ambitions aside,” Taye told LA Weekly in a statement. “Through the Express Your PosSCZible Talent Showcase, we aim to showcase the unique talents, creativity, and aspirations of the schizophrenia community. Performance and the arts have always been important to me, and through my sister, Christian, I’ve seen how this kind of creative expression is a valuable therapeutic outlet for a lot of individuals living with schizophrenia.
