City News Service reports that Andrew Thomas Gallo, the 22-year-old San Gabriel man accused of driving the car that killedL.A. Angel's pitcher Nick Adenhart and two others, pleaded not guilty in a Santa Ana court today. Gallo, who is being held in lieu of $2 million bond on the second-degree murder charge, allegedly was drunk on the night of April 9 when he sped through a red light in Fullerton. He is accused of ploughing his minivan into a car with Adenhart, 22, law student Henry Pearson, 25, and 20-year-old student Courtney Stewart — all of whom died. A fourth passenger in their car, Jon Wilhite, 24, was critically injured.

Gallo, who was behind the wheel on probation from a previous DUI conviction, is accused of driving with a blood-alcohol level about three times the legal limit and driving more than twice the posted speed limit at the time of the accident. He's also accused of fleeing the scene. He next returns to court for a pre-trial hearing July 31 and could face between more than 54 years and life in prison if convicted on all counts.
