Four Injured in DUI Pedestrian Accident near 47th Street

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (July 18, 2023) – Late Saturday night, Abraham Corral Alvarez was arrested after a DUI pedestrian crash on Central Avenue. Police responded to the scene around 10:30 p.m., near 47th Street on July 15th. According to reports, 18-year-old Alvarez was racing a vehicle and struck a center divider near the ART bus lane. He then veered off the road and crashed into a food truck and multiple people near 47th Street. As a result, four people suffered injuries and three of them were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Medics say two of the hospitalized victims were in critical condition, while one was in stable condition. Following preliminary duties, officers arrested and charged Alvarez with DWI resulting in great bodily harm. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway. Once available, more details will be provided.
