Fans were understandably concerned when hardcore supergroup Dead Cross abruptly canceled their scheduled show at the El Rey on Monday, Aug. 21, saying that frontman Mike Patton (of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle fame) had suffered an unspecified injury. Well, it turns out that Patton, 49, had wiped out while skateboarding to the gig. After getting some stitches, he was ready to go, so the band — which also features Slayer's Dave Lombardo, The Locust's Justin Pearson and Retox's Mike Crain — quickly rescheduled their show to the following night, Tuesday, Aug. 22, and proved their furious hardcore/metal assault was well worth the wait. With openers Silent from Mexico and L.A.'s Qui.
