For 25 years, the Pasadena Craftsman Weekend has offered architecture and design nerds the chance to tour beautiful and historic homes in a city known for its high concentration of Craftsman beauties. This weekend — Nov. 11-13 — locals participated in neighborhood walking tours (we chose the Lomita neighborhood), a free expo at the Pasadena Convention Center and all the early–20th century architecture porn their eyeballs could handle.
The centerpiece of this year's event was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to enter the “Magic House,” a home occupied by magicians Mike and Tina Caveney that's filled with Mike's collection of magic artifacts, including his world-famous collection of magician posters. There was even a magic show and harp performance.
