Journey to the magical world of Peter Pan and fly to Neverland with the Pasadena Civic Ballet at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse on Saturday, March 1, and Sunday, March 2.

This original ballet features animation, aerial artistry, and more than  100 costumed dancers bringing the tale of fantasy and flight to life.

Available before the 2 p.m. shows, join Tinkerbell and her Neverland friends for a fairytale tea catered by San Marino Cafe. Tea experience includes storytelling and photo opportunities with Peter Pan cast members and a finale dance along. A Girl Scout package is also available for Matinee Balcony Seats and includes a Tinkerbell Tea and patch workshop.

The San Gabriel Mission Playhouse is a lavish historic theater that was dedicated on March 5, 1927, and built by LA journalist and congressman John Steven McGroarty to house his famed Mission Play, which chronicled the history of California.

The theatre was designed to resemble McGroarty’s favorite mission, the San Antonio de Padua in Monterey County. The architectural style is Spanish with Mexican and Native American influences. The interior features a beautifully hand-carved, muraled ceiling, original tapestries presented by the King of Spain, ornate chandeliers that replicate the lanterns used on Spanish galleons that once ruled the seas, and a fully operational 1927 Wurlitzer Theatre Organ.

Throughout its history, the theatre has served as a home to performers like Tony Bennett, BB King, and Lilly Tomlin. It has also served as a backdrop to several fan-favorite feature films, commercials, and television shows throughout the decades.

Today, thanks to ongoing restoration, the theater looks much as it did when the Mission Play was in production.
