Carín León Returns to LA With a Career-Spanning Set at BMO Stadium for ‘De Sonora Para El Mundo Tour’

Carín León brought his De Sonora Para El Mundo Tour to Los Angeles’s BMO Stadium on Sunday, September 20, with a set that traced his rise from Sonoran regional Mexican singer to one of the genre’s most internationally visible stars. The LA date came immediately after shows in San Jose and Fresno and just one week after León completed his historic debut run at Las Vegas’ Sphere. 

Born and raised in Hermosillo, Sonora, León spent much of the 2010s in Grupo Arranke before going solo in 2018. His music has increasingly stretched beyond traditional norteño and ranchera, incorporating country, rock, soul, blues and other influences. He is now one of the few regional Mexican artists with both Latin Grammys and Grammys, a country-crossover resume that includes the Grand Ole Opry, Coachella, and Stagecoach.

His 2022 collaboration with Grupo Frontera, ‘Que Vuelvas,’ became his first Billboard Hot 100 entry and helped introduce him to a broader audience, while albums including Colmillo de Leche, Boca Chueca, Vol. 1 and his latest, Muda, have established him as a crossover figure without abandoning his música mexicana roots.

The BMO set drew heavily from that history. León opened with “A Través del Vaso,” “Me la Aventé,” “Ojos Cerrados,” “Como Lo Hice Yo” and “Secuelas,” moving through songs from different points in his career. The setlist included “Alch Sí,” “Cuando la Vida Sea Trago,” “Lado Frágil,” “La Buena,” “El Amor de Mi Herida,” “Casi Oficial,” “Te Lo Agradezco” and “No Es Por Acá.”

A second-stage section ran with “De Compas,” “Tú,” “Te Vi Con Él,” “La Farsante” and “Qué Más Puedo Pedir,” before León returned to the main stage for “Una Vida Pasada,” “Que Vuelvas,” “Talento de Televisión,” “La Morrita / La Boda del Huitlacoche” and “El Tóxico.” The closing stretch moved through crowd favorites including “Aviso Importante” (with guest artist Bolela), “Despídase Bien,” “Necesito Encontrarte,” “Según Quién” and “Primera Cita.”

Earlier in September, León became the first Latin artist to perform at Las Vegas’ Sphere, where he mounted a seven-show run built around the venue’s immersive LED screen and audiovisual capabilities. The residency drew roughly 20,000 people per performance. 

One Sphere performance was canceled at the last minute after León experienced problems getting to Nevada, prompting a strong reaction from some ticket holders. He subsequently completed the residency, and the venue announced his return for four shows in September 2027.

For Los Angeles, the evening offered a broad snapshot of León’s catalog, moving between early regional Mexican hits, romantic ballads, party songs, covers and newer material while showcasing his increasingly expansive interpretation of música mexicana.
