David Hansen, a Canadian producer, director, and digital content creator, found purpose within the creative film landscape, relentlessly pursuing his mission of shifting the mindset of humanity toward positivity. His story of overcoming challenges and facing darkness to becoming a renowned movie persona and embarking on a mission to enrich the world with his newest project, God Complex, stands as a testament to the power of resilience and divinity.
Now an established producer and director who has worked with the industry’s biggest names, including Keanu Reeves, Kristen Stewart, and Uma Thurman, David’s journey with cinema began in childhood. Back then, driven by the blinding lights of fame and the vision of having global influence, he dreamt of succeeding as an actor. As he matured, a career where one’s destiny depended on others became less and less enticing, prompting him to pursue roles behind the camera lens.
After graduating with a film degree from the University of Regina, David centered his first projects around social issues, directing documentaries on the current state of the world. To create his first film, Hello. Africa Calling, David traveled to Africa, capturing the reality of telecommunication lines and their impact on people’s livelihoods. TV shows, such as Prank Patrol and English Teachers, both of which gained international recognition, marked the next step in his career, introducing David to the commercial side of the industry.

Seeking more rewarding ventures, he shifted his focus to feature films, producing renowned titles like Siberia and Elvis and Nixon. Though his commercial and independent films were garnering attention, David, sparked by the echoing calling of his creativity, couldn’t shake off the lingering sense of unfulfillment. “Even though I was an integral part of all productions, they never really gave me an outlet for creativity,” he shares. “I knew my life was about more than just producing other people’s art.”
As the doubts and grim feelings progressed, David began to lose a grip on reality, slowly sinking into the abyss of addiction. With his life revolving around drugs and gambling, the passionate director fell into a dark place, constantly caught in a fight with his inner demons. Lost, in debt, and living off his disability insurance, he gave up on chasing his dreams, with no films created for nearly four years. The pivotal moment came when David, having lost all hope and standing on the edge before taking the jump that would have ended his life, discovered the power of God.
After getting out of the void, he returned to what felt like a comfort zone and continued his producing journey, quickly finding success again. With substantial resources and a clear mission—turning the world into a better place—he created God Complex, a web series available on David’s TikTok profileand rumble channel meant to inspire, empower, and spread love and empathy. More than his way of giving back to humanity, the show symbolizes David’s journey with the God complex—a personal issue that led to his hospitalization and bipolar diagnosis.
With the newest project, David hopes to share the word of God with the world, becoming a messenger of faith, morals, and selflessness. Enriching his creative contributions is David’s frequent volunteering work, during which he helps the homeless, hungry, and impoverished citizens. “God was the one who showed me hope and light,” shares David. “I learned that what comes around goes around, and with that, my ultimate goal is to connect humanity. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, what you believe, and who you pray to; together, we create the beautiful tapestry of the world, and it’s my mission to nurture it.”
