The Charlie Sheen train wreck continues to disgust and fascinate us, inspiring Mad Libs, an online glossary, a gastronomic history and Twitter hashtags. But the oddest by-product of the Sheen meme has to be the cocktail recipes. You can thank the actor's televised rantings for the slew of Tiger's Blood and Adonis DNA drinks showing up in New York and Chicago bars.

Interestingly enough, our Los Angeles bars haven't jumped on the crazy express with their New York counterparts. So we asked several of L.A.'s top bartenders to come up with their own “Warlock”-inspired drinks. Most said no with their silence, except Matthew Biancaniello of Hollywood Roosevelt's Library Bar who replied, “Love you but no interest, thanks.”

However, we did find a few who were game, even doing the research on the actor first since they hadn't been following his story. Keep in mind that these drinks are for you to make at home since none of them will be appearing at their respective bars. Joseph Brooke of the Edison downtown came up with a couple: His Extremely Highball, which he follows with, “If you're a winner, you'll be able to drink more than one,” and his jokey The Single-Speed F-18, a term Sheen used to describe his habit of dropping F-bombs.

Kiowa Bryan of the upcoming Lexington Social House in Hollywood went so far as to make sure her ingredients for Wild Thing (Sheen's character in Major League) included “2 ½ Men” and blood orange in place of tiger's blood.

The Spare Room's Naomi Schimek drew her inspiration for “The Sheen Dream” from the actor's career. “He started out smoking hot and ended up crazy cool,” says Schimek.

Alex Straus of Hemingway's Lounge in Hollywood teamed up with San Francisco's The Bon Vivants to create an absinthe cocktail. Absinthe “because [Sheen is] definitely seeing things we don't, aka winning.” And the drink is named The Bitter End “because we all know this isn't going to be a happy ending,” says Straus.

8. The Extremely Highball

Makes: 1 drink

2.5 ounces Whistlepig 10 year

0.5 ounce Cointreau

0.5 ounce Ginger syrup

0.75 ounce Fresh-squeezed lemon juice

1. Shake all ingredients and strain into an ice-filled (large) collins glass.

2. Float 0.5 ounce of fresh-squeezed blood orange juice.

7. The Single-Speed F-18

Makes: 1 drink

2 ounces Overproof tequila

1 drop pure Capsaicin

1. Rim the glass with powdered Novocaine, Lidocaine, or, depending on availability, anything else ending in -caine.

2. Make sure to lick the rim in its entirety before you take the shot. That way, you only feel the heat once it reaches your soul. Can't take the burn? Cure it with your mind!

6. Wild Thing

Makes: 1 drink

2 1/2 ounces Gentlemen's Jack

1 ounce Campari

3/4 ounce Carpano Antica

3/4 ounce Fresh blood orange juice

1. Combine all the ingredients in a mixing glass and stir.

2. Serve over hand “cracked” (crushed) ice with a straw (or rolled dollar bill).

3. Garnish with burnt orange peel.

5. The Bitter End

Makes: 1 drink

1 ounce Kubler Absinthe

0.5 ounce Royal Combier

0.5 ounce Lemon

0.5 ounce Orange

0.5 ounce Egg white

0.5 ounce Campari

1. In a mixing glass, combine the citrus and the egg white.

2. Using a blender ball or similar springlike device, dry shake the mixture.

3. Combine the rest of the ingredients except the Campari. Add ice, shake vigorously, and double strain through a tea strainer into a small chilled cocktail glass.

4. Using a chrome top pour spout on the Campari, skillfully sink the Campari down the inside of the glass to the bottom. Garnish by floating a star anise (pods facing up) on top of the foam.

4. The Sheen Dream

1 1/2 ounces Partida Tequila

1/2 ounce Yellow Chartruese

1/2 ounce Del Mageuy Chicicapa Mescal

3/4 ounce lime

1/4 ounce agave

Homemade chipotle sage salt


1. Combine ingredients in mixing glass and muddle sage.

2. Add ice and shake.

3. Rim highball glass with blood orange. Dip one side of glass in homemade chipotle sage salt and strain drink over ice.

3. Malibu Messiah

1 1/2 ounces Appleton Estate Reserve rum

1 1/2 ounces White rum

1 ounce Fresh lime juice

1 ounce Orgeat

1/2 ounce Orange juice

2 dashes Pineapple bitters

1. Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker.

2. Shake ingredients and double strain over ice.

2. Adonis Genes

Makes: 1 drink

1 ounce Spanish dry sherry

2 ounces Redbreast 15 year Irish whiskey

1/2 ounce Grenadine

1. Combine ingredients over ice in mixing tin and stir.

2. Strain into coupe and garnish with a blood orange peel.

1. The Fire Breathing Fist

Makes: 1 drink

4 ounces Tiger's blood (or cherry soda)

1.5 ounces Rocket fuel (or Bacardi 151)

Squirt of Adonis DNA (lime juice)

Rim of crushed Lithium (or granulated sugar)

Float a lime peel filled with 151 on top and light on fire

1. Rub a cut lime around the rim of a highball glass, then dip the rim in crushed lithium tablets, or granulated sugar.

2. Add ice and rocket fuel (or 151 proof rum) then top with tiger's blood (cherry soda) and a squeeze of Adonis DNA (um, lime juice).

3. Stir with the tip of your saber and don a “golden sombrero.” Float a lime peel on top, fill with a spoonful of 151, and carefully light on fire with your fist or a match.
