At 11 a.m. today travel to Cuba will get a bit easier for people with family members in Cuba, with Continental Airlines Flight CO1923, a Boeing 737-800 airliner that will leave LAX for Havana. The weekly Tuesday flight will join other routes that have had planes flying to Cuba from the U.S. since June 1. The change is the result of travel relaxations that have come about since Barack Obama took office as President in January, although changes that would allow ordinary U.S. tourists to travel to Cuba are still in the proposal stage. Flights are solely arranged through Cuba Travel Services, which has a local office in Long Beach. Since the flights are chartered, they cannot be booked through Continental Airlines. Round-trip fares for July are $689, not including airport taxes and other fees.
