One Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Canyon Drive

OCEANSIDE, CA (February 6, 2024) – Sunday night, one unidentified victim was killed in a pedestrian accident on State Route 76 near Canyon Drive. Dispatchers responded to the scene around 6:23 p.m., after receiving multiple calls in the area.

According to reports, a person crossing from south to north outside of a marked crosswalk was hit by the driver of a westbound white Toyota Prius. The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene by first responders, and their identity has not been released.

The driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and actively cooperated with the ongoing investigation. Initial assessments by the police suggest that drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be contributing factors.
