Bicyclist Fatally Struck in Deadly Crash near 46th Street

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 30, 2024) – One bicycle rider was killed Wednesday morning, in a pursuit crash on Hooper Avenue and 46th Street.

The Newton Division of the LAPD was alerted to a stolen vehicle incident at approximately 6:00 a.m. on April 24th. Police initiated a pursuit of the suspect near the intersection of 48th Street and Central Avenue, but the suspect refused to comply, leading to a chase.

As the pursuit progressed into the intersection of Hooper Avenue and 46th Street, the suspect collided with a cyclist and eight vehicles. The suspect’s vehicle overturned, resulting in serious injuries to the driver.

Despite efforts to save them, emergency responders declared the cyclist deceased at the scene. The identity of the cyclist has not yet been disclosed.

Furthermore, authorities reported that the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended and charged with felonies.

Emergency crews temporarily closed surrounding roads for cleanup and preliminary procedures. Further information regarding the fatal collision involving the cyclist on Hooper Avenue will be provided when available.
