As Southern California prepares for eight FIFA World Cup 2026 matches at SoFi Stadium this summer, including the USA vs. Paraguay opener on Friday, June 12, and another USA group stage match on Thursday, June 25, the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner is expanding service to help fans avoid stadium traffic and parking congestion.

Beginning Thursday, June 11, through Sunday, July 19, Pacific Surfliner will operate a special World Cup service schedule with added late-night trains, extended service, and direct connections to major fan events across the region.

Late-Night Match Service Added

Special late-night departures will operate on key match dates, including June 12, 13, 15, and 25, allowing fans to stay through the final whistle before boarding trains departing Los Angeles as late as approximately 10:40–10:45 p.m.

Advance Reservations Required During Tournament Window

From June 11–July 19, all Pacific Surfliner trains will require reservations due to anticipated ridership demand tied to World Cup travel.

Direct Access to Fan Events

On July 18–19, all Pacific Surfliner trains will add a stop at Downtown Burbank station, providing direct access to the FIFA Fan Zone event. Additionally, Union Station will host a separate fan-focused celebration June 25–28, making rail one of the easiest car-free transportation options for visitors attending tournament activities.

Santa Monica’s Ultimate Watch Party and  Fan Fest presented by Michelob ULTRA will take over Santa Monica Place on Friday, June 12, for an all-day celebration featuring live FIFA World Cup 26™ match screenings on a 30-foot LED screen in Center Plaza, along with DJs, live entertainment, a beer garden, giveaways, fan experiences, networking lounges, and more. The main event match of USA vs. Paraguay begins at 6 p.m., and the Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina. Free admission with RSVP. Limited VIP table reservations are available

The  10th Annual Newport Beach Wooden Boat Festival takes place on Saturday, June 13, at Balboa Yacht Club. For a $10 admission fee, you can have a firsthand experience of one of Newport Beach’s members-only clubs and explore the legacy of the wooden boats in Newport Harbor, the largest recreational harbor in America.

There will be gondola rides throughout the harbor for $20 per person, a silent auction featuring wooden boat charters, original artwork, and vacation packages, two live music acts on the waterfront, BBQ lunch and beverage service on-site, youth activities including toy boat building, knot-tying, and coloring, as well as complimentary parking and shuttle from the Newport Beach Country Club. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to  5:30 p.m.
