One Pronounced Dead after Rear-End Collision near Dominion Way

SACRAMENTO, CA (May 13, 2024) – One person was killed Tuesday night, in a 3-vehicle rear-end collision on Elverta Road. The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m., near Dominion Way. According to California Highway Patrol officers, the driver of a Ford Ranger rear-ended a Ram 1500 that was stopped at the intersection. The impact of the collision sent the Ranger into the path of a Ford F-150, resulting in another crash. Responding emergency personnel declared the driver of the Ford Ranger dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the Ford F150 driver fled the scene and was later apprehended near Watt Avenue and Elverta Road. Authorities said the F-150 driver will be charged with hit-and-run and felony DUI. In addition, the driver of the Ram, identified to be a minor, did not sustain injuries from the incident. Sacramento Officials closed the westbound lanes of Elverta Road to investigate the fatal DUI crash. Once available, further details will be provided.
