The beachside Playa del Rey neighborhood restaurant Playa Provisions, co-owned and operated by Top Chef winner Brooke Williamson and Nick Roberts, celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year with a tiki-themed anniversary party on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.

The Tiki 10 anniversary party, which is free and open to the public, will feature sit-down table service with a condensed tiki-themed menu. Food and drink specials will include poke bowls (as a nod to Da Kikokiko, the restaurant group’s former Hawaiian-themed sister restaurant), chicken teriyaki pineapple bowls, cold peanut udon noodles, spam and beef smash burgers, lobster rolls, tacos, fries, hurricane chex mix, and more. Grain, the restaurant’s hidden speakeasy, will be transformed into a full tiki bar, and Playa Provisions’ now-discontinued signature canned cocktail, the DEL REY, will be making a special reappearance.

Throughout the day, a lineup of bands, including a jazz band and an R&B band, will take the stage to perform live music. Limited-edition 10th Anniversary merchandise will be available for guests to purchase as well. The King Beach Cafe will be open for regular morning service from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.The Tiki 10 party will take place from noon to 6 p.m. (Sit-down table service, walk-ins only) The Live music schedule includes GB Entertainment,  Zacc West (also a Playa Provisions bartender), and Mocha Chai

Vietnamese West Hollywood hotspot, DiDi, has collaborated with actress Karrueche Tran to launch her twist on the Central Vietnam dish Bánh Bèo.  Tran shares Vietnamese heritage with DiDi founder Chef Tue Nguyen, Available on Thursdays in May, her  Bánh Bèo is made with shrimp, scallion oil, crispy shallot, crispy chicken skin and nuoc mam, a Vietnamese dipping sauce. 

Then every Tuesday, Nguyen hosts Tue’sDay Game Night at DiDi WeHo to celebrate Asian culture, invite diners to have some interactive fun, taste the Vietnamese outpost’s new Banh Mi dish of the month, and receive giveaways from partnering brands. In celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, DiDi is serving its limited-time specialty dish, Bo Kho Banh Mi, made with braised beef, carrots, herbs and a dip on the side, likened it to a Vietnamese birria.

Taco/Social, the fast-casual taco shop in Eagle Rock has kicked off a culinary collaboration with  Nancy Silverton featuring a limited-time taco with a portion of sales benefitting Alex’s Lemonade Stand (ALSF).  It’s a seared octopus taco that comes with green goddess, savoy cabbage slaw, lime crème fraiche, chili crunch and cilantro. Throughout May, $1 from each Seared Octopus Taco sold will be donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand (ALSF) and the LA Loves Alex’s Lemonade: Kids’ Campaign.
