70-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Red-Light Crash near North 40th Street

PHOENIX, AZ (May 13, 2024)Michael Peczynski died early Monday morning, in a red-light crash on Cactus Road and North 40th Street.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m., on May 6th.

Reports indicate that while driving west on Cactus Road, Peczynski failed to stop at a red light near North 40th Street, resulting in a collision with a southbound sedan. The impact caused Peczynski’s SUV to overturn.

Upon arrival, first responders found the SUV flipped onto its roof.

Paramedics transported Peczynski to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, the 70-year-old was pronounced deceased due to the severity of injuries sustained.

The other driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. He is now in stable condition following emergency treatment.

Further details are pending as the Phoenix Police continue their investigation into the incident.
