43-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck by Freightliner in Big-Rig Collision near Baird

CALLAHAN COUNTY, TX (February 6, 2024)Yan Broytman died late Sunday morning in a semi-truck crash on westbound Interstate 20.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:10 a.m., just seven miles east of Baird on January 28th.

According to reports, Broytman was operating a 2017 Freightliner, towing a Hyundai, while Lewis Edward Clements Jr., a 46-year-old from New Market, Virginia, was driving a 2011 Freightliner with a Reitnouer trailer in tow.

Investigations reveal that Broytman experienced engine failure and came to a stop in the westbound lanes for repairs. There, Clements Jr. failed to maintain his lane and collided with Broytman.

Upon reaching the scene, Justice of the Peace Andi Holland pronounced Broytman, a resident of Frisco, Texas, deceased.

Currently, an active investigation is ongoing to gather additional information. Further details will be provided once available.
