Three Drivers Involved in Fatal Bicycle Accident near Newell Road

PALO ALTO, CA (February 26, 2024) – One woman died Monday night in a bicycle crash on Embarcadero and Newell Road. Police officers responded to the scene around 9:00 p.m.

Authorities report that the operator of an eastbound 2023 Honda Accord collided with a woman riding a bicycle in the left lane, causing her to be thrown into the intersection. Subsequently, two other eastbound drivers struck the ejected cyclist and left the scene, while the initial driver remained and cooperated with the ongoing investigation.

Emergency responders pronounced the female cyclist dead. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office has not disclosed her identity.

Palo Alto Officials are urging any witnesses of the fatal bicycle-auto collision to contact the dispatch center at 650-329-2413. Once available, more details will be provided.
