27-Year-Old Male Driver and Female Passenger Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near Tumbleweed Road

PHELAN, CA (April 29, 2024) – Tommy Solis and a woman died Sunday night in a head-on collision on Phelan Road.

Police officers responded to the scene around 8:15 p.m., just east of Tumbleweed Road.

California Highway Patrol officers reported that the driver of a 2018 GMC Yukon heading east inexplicably swerved left. Subsequently, the Yukon entered the left turn lane and collided with a 2015 Subaru Forester traveling west on the same route.
 
Emergency medical personnel pronounced the 27-year-old male driver from Phelan, who was in the Subaru, deceased at the scene.
 
Simultaneously, paramedics rushed the 28-year-old female driver from Oak Hills, who was in the GMC, to a nearby hospital, where she later passed away due to her injuries. A passenger from the GMC sustained significant injuries and remained hospitalized for treatment.
 
The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office has yet to release the identity of the deceased woman. Officials from Phelan urge anyone who witnessed the head-on collision to reach out to the CHP’s Victorville Office at (760) 241-1186.
