33-Year-Old Woman Killed in Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision near Peoria Avenue

PEORIA, AZ (January 13, 2023) – Early Monday morning, Nichole Cortez was fatally struck in a hit-and-run crash on Loop 101.

Police responded to the scene around 3:00 a.m., on the southbound lanes of Loop 101 near Peoria Avenue on December 19th.

According to reports, first responders located a gold Mitsubishi Galant sedan in the middle of the highway with its driver’s door open. Shortly after, crews found the deceased body of 33-year-old Cortez about 50 feet from the Mitsubishi.

Investigators believed that Cortez was struck by a 2010-2014 Dodge Challenger. There was no other available information about the vehicle.

At this time, the suspect remains at large. Authorities and the family of Cortez encourage anyone with further details to contact their offices immediately.
