Paris-based composer Omar Harfouch takes his “Concerto for Peace” on a world tour in 2025, carrying a message of harmony through music to divided nations. His 17-minute masterpiece, which blends classical structure with oriental and flamenco influences, will grace prestigious venues including the Italian Parliament’s Regina Hall on April 29, Béziers on May 8, and Monaco on June 13.

The Ukrainian invasion of 2022 spurred Harfouch to complete his composition, triggering memories of his own childhood experiences with conflict. “When I heard the news, I saw myself as a child, seeking refuge in music amid chaos,” he shared in interviews about the work’s inspiration. Having studied at Ukraine’s prestigious Glinka Conservatory, Harfouch brings personal experience to his musical message of unity.

A Symphony Born from Conflict

The “Concerto for Peace” has already captivated audiences across continents. Its debut at Paris’s Théâtre des Champs-Élysées drew 1,900 attendees, while performances at the Dubai Opera showcased its unique fusion of musical traditions. The Béziers Méditerranée Symphony Orchestra performs the work under the direction of conductor Mathieu Bonnin, bringing Harfouch’s vision to life through orchestral brilliance.

November 2024 marked a historic moment when Harfouch presented the first public concert ever held in the Vatican’s Apostolic Library. The performance earned him the 2025 Jubilee Medal from Pope Francis, who called him a “pilgrim of peace.” Additional recognition came from the Venice Film Festival, which awarded Harfouch the World Peace Prize, further cementing his role as a musical ambassador for global harmony.

From Paris to the Vatican: Music’s Diplomatic Journey

Harfouch speaks with conviction about his mission. “Peace is no longer optional—it’s a collective duty, especially for artists, to dismantle the hatred fueling escalation,” he asserts firmly.

Critics question whether musical compositions, however moving, can truly affect geopolitical realities. Most performances happen in elegant concert halls before audiences already receptive to messages of peace—far removed from active conflict zones.

Nevertheless, Harfouch persists in his belief that art carries power beyond entertainment. His performances across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond reach diverse audiences, and his compositions spark conversations that conventional diplomacy might miss. The upcoming recital at the French Senate represents another opportunity to place his musical message before those with political influence.

Playing Across Political Lines

February 2025 saw Harfouch venture into complicated political territory when he accepted an invitation to Mar-a-Lago. There, he premiered “Abraham Peace,” a composition created specifically for an event hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump. This willingness to perform across political divides shows his dedication to reaching all audiences, regardless of partisan affiliations.

Harfouch’s journey is akin to humanity’s eternal search for harmony amid discord. Though his music alone cannot solve deeply rooted conflicts, it offers moments of shared experience—brief glimpses of what cooperation might sound like. His tour continues throughout 2025, carrying notes of possibility to listeners worldwide.

The “Concerto for Peace” exists as both art and statement, beauty and protest. Whether music can truly build bridges where bombs have fallen remains uncertain. Yet Harfouch plays on, his fingers creating harmonies that audiences remember long after the final notes fade away.
