64-Year-Old Driver Dies and Passenger Injured in Solo-Car Crash on Westbound Interstate 80

WEST WENDOVER, NV (January 23, 2024) – On Friday evening, police responded to a vehicle accident on Interstate 80 that claimed the life of Mark Munro.

The event transpired on January 5th at approximately 6:00 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80.

According to the troopers, the occurrence involved a Honda CR-V SUV operated by 64-year-old Munro, accompanied by a passenger.

Upon scrutiny, the troopers reported that Munro, while traveling eastbound, failed to negotiate a left-hand curve safely, subsequently entering the center median and the westbound lanes.

Furthermore, the Honda overturned multiple times before it crashed into a concrete barrier. Unfortunately, the crash led to the death of Munro, and his passenger was transported to the hospital with major injuries.

Further investigation is being handled by the Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command East Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team, and witnesses can contact them at 775-753-1111.
