Unidentified Male Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Fatal Crash near Viera Avenue

ANTIOCH, CA (April 30, 2024) – One man was killed early Sunday morning, in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Wilbur Avenue.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m., at the 1800 block of Wilbur Avenue near Viera Avenue.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered that a male pedestrian had been struck by a Kia sedan for unknown reasons. Following the collision, the driver involved immediately fled the scene without offering assistance or notifying authorities.

Despite attempts to save him, emergency responders declared the pedestrian deceased. His identity has not been disclosed to the public at this time.

Emergency crews temporarily closed off the surrounding area for cleanup and initial investigative procedures.

Antioch Officials are urging any witnesses of the fatal hit-and-run on Wilbur Avenue to reach out to the department’s Traffic Investigation Unit at (925) 779-6864. Further information regarding the incident will be provided once it becomes available.
