Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Collision near South 11th Avenue

TUCSON, AZ (January 3, 2024) – One man died Wednesday night in a hit-and-run bicycle collision on West 22nd Street.

Police arrived just before 6:45 p.m. on December 27th, near South 11th Avenue. According to reports, a cyclist heading north was struck by the driver of a westbound silver or grey 2002-2006 Toyota.

The injured cyclist was transported to Banner University Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, the suspect fled the scene and is still at large.

Troopers later discovered that the cyclist was without a helmet or reflective lights, and the driver was traveling at high speeds.

Emergency crews temporarily closed off the surrounding area for cleanup and initial procedures. A thorough investigation is currently underway to gather additional information.
