Male Driver Pronounced Dead after Red- Light Collision near Indian School Road

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (May 3, 2024) – Friday morning, one man was fatally injured in a three-vehicle red-light crash on Tramway Boulevard.

According to investigators, the driver of a red Volvo was speeding southbound on Tramway. Disregarding a red light, the Volvo proceeded into the intersection. This led to a collision with a Ford waiting to turn onto Indian School Road. The impact propelled both vehicles into the side of a nearby box-truck.

Despite efforts to save him, the male Volvo driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators suspect a medical emergency may have caused the incident.

In addition, a female passenger and the Ford driver sustained severe injuries. Paramedics transported them to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

To facilitate cleanup, authorities temporarily closed Tramway Boulevard between Lomas Boulevard and Indian School Road. Further information regarding the fatal red-light crash on Tramway Boulevard will be provided once available.
