40-Year-Old Male Cyclist Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision near Calvert Street

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 2, 2023) – A hit-and-run bicycle accident on Van Nuys Boulevard claimed the life of a man Monday night. At approximately 11:40 p.m., authorities were alerted to the incident near Calvert Street in the Valley Glen neighborhood.

Officers eventually discovered a man lying in the roadway. Initial investigations revealed that the cyclist was struck by a southbound vehicle while traveling in the same direction on Van Nuys.

The driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene without offering any assistance or notifying the authorities.

A witness reported that the suspect’s vehicle carried the victim beneath it as it traveled from Van Nuys to Burbank Boulevard. The victim was finally dislodged from the suspect’s vehicle when they reached Hatteras Street. First responders later declared the 40-year-old male cyclist deceased at the scene.
