57-Year-Old Cyclist Fatally Struck in Bicycle Collision near Planz Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 3, 2024)Leonardo Torres died Friday night in a bicycle accident on Wible and Planz Road. Police officers responded to the scene around 6:58 p.m., on April 26th.

Investigating the circumstances, the driver of a northbound semi-truck collided with a bicyclist traveling west on Planz Road. The collision resulted in severe injuries to the cyclist, ultimately leading to their death.

The victim was later identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office as 57-year-old Torres from Bakersfield.

Initial reports suggested that the semi-truck driver fled the scene; however, they later returned upon being informed by a witness about the incident.

Authorities urge anyone who witnessed the fatal bicycle accident on Wible Road to reach out to the BPD at 661-327-7111.
