Josie Cotton Recalls the Brilliance of Geza X: Josie Cotton told us about her love for an underrated punk masterpiece.
Josie Cotton: You know, there’s a lot of records in the world. Some not so good. Some life-altering. There are sex records, drug records, dance records and fuck all y’all records. There are a million variables what makes something a favorite record. All in all, it’s a completely subjective process so I picked You Goddam Kids by Geza X and the Mommymen.

You Goddam Kids is a highly underrated record by an artist who was never fully acknowledged in the LA punk scene. Maybe it’s because of his epic song “I Hate Punks”? You just don’t get more punk rock than that.
You Goddam Kids was, by all measure, an absurdist/pop art masterpiece… a Rorschach test for the almost sane of Eastern European descent and beyond.
Am I prejudiced because Geza X became a lifelong friend? Am I biased because I considered myself the luckiest girl in the world to sing back up with him on this record? Absolutely. It’s the nature of being subjective.
But I dare you to listen. You Goddam Kids is a record that’s meant to be pondered, celebrated, and remembered.
