42-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near Nelson Road

RIO HONDO, TX (December 6, 2023) Jorge Villanueva died Thursday morning in a head-on collision on FM 106, just east of Nelson Road.

At approximately 10:11 a.m., emergency services were dispatched to the location just east of Nelson Road. According to reports, the operator of a brown Chevrolet Silverado made an attempt to overtake another vehicle while traveling in the eastbound direction on FM106.

The Chevrolet then swerved into the westbound lanes, colliding with an approaching Saturn Outlook. The driver of the Saturn was pronounced dead at the accident site. The deceased individual was later identified as 42-year-old Villanueva from Rio Hondo.

In addition, the Silverado driver was taken by emergency responders to Vallep Baptist Medical Center and later airlifted to DHR Health in Edinburgh for treatment of unspecified injuries. Authorities have announced their intention to press charges against the Silverado driver upon their release from the hospital.
