Echoes from Eden: A Daring Voyage to Protect Earth’s Last Wild Places makes its official debut at Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena on Sept. 2, and at its heart is the voice of Dr. Jane Goodall. The new book, co-authored by Dax Dasilva and Eric Hendrikx, features a foreword by Goodall and directs all proceeds to her Legacy Foundation, extending her mission to protect ecosystems and biodiversity around the globe. Echoes from Eden captures Dasilva’s on-the-ground journey to some of the world’s most threatened ecosystems. The book is both a personal narrative and an essential call to action: a manifesto that argues hope, collaboration, and individual impact remain critical tools in the fight for biodiversity, and is available the same day in bookstores and online through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and independent sellers. The evening begins at 7 p.m. and will feature a reading, a conversation with the authors, audience Q&A, and signing.

Dasilva, best known as the founder and CEO of Lightspeed Commerce Inc. and the environmental non-profit Age of Union, brings a unique perspective to the work. Having temporarily stepped away from leading a billion-dollar tech company in 2022 to embed himself in grassroots conservation projects, he offers first-hand accounts of endangered places and the communities protecting them.

Throughout Echoes from Eden, readers travel alongside Dasilva as he encounters some of the world’s most urgent conservation efforts. He joins Dr. Jane Goodall and Chief Juma Xipaia in the Amazon, tracks Grauer’s gorillas with Dr. Kerry Bowman in the Congoroso, and navigates rivers with Paul Rosolie and the Junglekeepers in Peru. He partners with Captain Paul Watson and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society to halt illegal fishing in the Bay of Biscay, learns from Suzan Baptiste’s transformation of poaching grounds in Trinidad into a safe haven for leatherback turtles, and explores Madagascar with Dr. Russell Mittermeier to witness lemur conservation in action.

Each of these stories underscores a central theme: collaboration drives results. Dasilva shows how victories, from regrown forests to revived species, emerge when grassroots knowledge meets global resources.

The Pasadena event will highlight this blend of storytelling and activism. Dasilva will appear in conversation with best-selling author Eric Hendrikx, giving audiences the chance to hear directly from the team behind the book. Attendees will also learn how the book connects to the ongoing mission of Age of Union, which Dasilva founded with a $40 million personal commitment to high-impact conservation efforts worldwide.

For readers in LA, the release of Echoes from Eden offers a direct way to engage with urgent environmental realities while also contributing to tangible solutions, and each purchase extends beyond the page, funding work to protect ecosystems and species at risk.
