Access Bank CEO and Multiple Others Killed in Helicopter Accident near Halloran Springs Road

BAKER, CA (February 13, 2024) – A helicopter collision on Interstate 15 killed Nigerian bank CEO Herbert Wigwe and five others, late Friday evening. The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m., near Halloran Springs Road.

The Eurocopter EC-130, as reported by The Federal Aviation Administration, had six individuals on board when it crashed. Departing from Palm Springs Airport at approximately 8:45 a.m. on its way to Nevada, the circumstances leading to the accident are currently not fully understood.

Upon arrival at the crash site, first responders declared the passing of Wigwe, the 57-year-old CEO of Access Bank, and five others. This included Wigwe’s spouse and child.

Presently, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are actively investigating the helicopter incident. Additional information will be provided as soon as it becomes available.
