Three Dead, Three Injured after Multi-Vehicle Collision near Berryville

HENDERSON COUNTY, TX (May 6, 2024)Douglas Norwood, Janet Norwood, and Carol Mitchell died Thursday night in a multi-car crash on State Highway 155.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m., near Berryville on April 18th.

According to reports, 84-year-old Douglas was behind the wheel of a 2016 Ford Fusion, with 78-year-old Janet accompanying him as a passenger.

While exiting a private driveway, the Ford failed to yield to an approaching 2014 Honda Accord, driven by 42-year-old Srikar Mapakshi. This resulted in a collision. The impact forced the Ford into the southbound lanes, where it was hit by a 2018 Hyundai Elantra driven by 33-year-old Cassandra Tait.

In the Elantra were passengers 71-year-old Carol Mitchell from Lake Havasu City and 54-year-old Lisa Crawford from Palestine.

Due to the severity of their injuries, Douglas, Janet, and Mitchell were pronounced deceased at the scene by medics. Mapakshi, Tait, and Crawford were transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

At this time, an active investigation remains ongoing.
