48-Year-Old Bicyclist Dies in Fatal Accident on Indian School Road

PHOENIX, AZ (May 31, 2022) – Wednesday afternoon, 48-year-old Andriya Shagwa was killed in a bicycle collision on 27th Avenue.

Officers responded to the scene around 3:00 p.m., near the intersection of 27th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Per reports, Shagwa was riding a bicycle and making a turn near 27th Avenue. For reasons unknown, the driver of a passing vehicle struck him.

Paramedics arrived and quickly transported Shagwa to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. However, he later succumbed to his injuries due to the extent of his condition.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene to cooperate with authorities.

Additionally, crews closed both lanes of the 27th Avenue for an extended period of time to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, an active investigation into the crash is still underway.
