41-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Collision near Peace Way

LAS VEGAS, NV (September 21, 2023) – Early Friday, tragedy struck as Andrew Irving lost his life in a hit-and-run crash as on Fort Apache Road.

First responders arrived at the scene at approximately 5:05 a.m., between Flamingo Road and Tropicana Avenue on September 8th.

According to officers, Irving was struck by the driver of a southbound white Jeep Wrangler, with black roof and black rims, while he was walking in the southbound lanes. The driver then fled the scene without offering any assistance to the injured pedestrian or notifying authorities.

Due to the extent of his condition, medical personnel later pronounced 41-year-old Irving dead.

Following clearing duties, police successfully located and apprehended the suspect responsible for the incident. Denise Velez, 30, was taken into custody and is facing charges related to the incident. She is currently detained at the Clark County Detention Center.

The investigation into this incident is still actively ongoing. As more information becomes available, it will be shared with the public.
