After two years of meticulous renovation with careful thought given to its history in the neighborhood, restaurateur Jeremy Adler will open the Beethoven Market as a restaurant  for happy hour and dinner in Mar Vista on Saturday, March 29.

The reason I’m doing this project is because of where it’s physically located and because it’s such an opportunity to be a nexus for the community,” Adler, who lives in Mar Vista less than a mile away from the market with his wife and two kids, told L.A. Weekly when he started the project. There aren’t enough places in our neighborhood where people can congregate and hang out and get to know each other. I have a lot of faith in our community.”

The Italian-based menu will feature handmade pasta and pizzas, along with roast chicken on the custom rotisserie, all accompanied by a thoughtful wine and cocktail list.  There are pan-seared prawns with salsa verde, meatballs, crispy artichokes, pork collar with roasted fennel, apple, and herbs, and plenty of dessert and coffee options.

While the market aspect of the location is gone, Adler polished up the 1949 building that functioned mostly as a liquor store, keeping its integrity. The restaurant’s design, by Tara Bean Designs, includes a cozy central bar and homey outside patio that feels like a neighbor’s backyard with a breezy indoor-outdoor flow, surrounded by French doors and lots of natural light.
