For Michael Gilas, music has always been a defining force, shaped by the timeless sounds of artists like The Eagles and Steely Dan. However, it wasn’t until a life-altering accident forced him to reevaluate his path that he fully committed to his passion.

After breaking his neck in a horseback riding accident and facing the daunting challenge of relearning how to use his hands, Gilas turned to music as both a refuge and a driving force. Confined to bed for weeks, he shifted his mindset and began documenting melodies and lyrics on his phone. This resilience culminated in his lead single, “Working with the Rain,” which debuted at #21 on Billboard… a poignant reminder of the power of hope.

“‘Working with the Rain’ is like working above it—it’s a metaphor for dealing with challenges, people, and situations in life. The song is about navigating these elements, learning to live alongside them, and making life work by facing them head-on, rather than avoiding them.” — Michael Gilas

With a dramatic flair, Michael opens “Working With the Rain” with a bold chord on the piano, accompanied by bass and guitar. The song unfolds into a captivating mix of rock and country-influenced pop, drawing strength from the strings and beautifully complementing his earthy vocals. “Working With the Rain” captures those perfect moments when everything aligns for an artist, creating a truly memorable song.

In addition to music, he co-founded Gilchrist & Soames, a toiletries brand, and later bought Zero Waste USA with his brother, both ventures showcasing his entrepreneurial acumen. Michael emphasizes that being a musician requires the same dedication as running a business. After his accident, he prioritized health and wellness, focusing on enjoying life’s simple pleasures. Through his journey, he learned valuable lessons about control and letting go, shaping his perspective on resilience.
