68-Year-Old Bakersfield Man Dies in Tow-Truck Crash near Caliente Creek

BAKERSFIELD, CA (September 14, 2023) – Monday afternoon, one victim was killed in a tow-truck rollover collision on Caliente Bodfish Road.

Authorities responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m., just north of Caliente Creek on September 11th.

Per reports, the 68-year-old male driver of a Kenworth flatbed tow-truck was hauling a Mazda and lost control. As a result, the tow-truck veered off the roadway where it rolled over and landed on its roof.

Paramedics arrived and pronounced the tow-truck driver who was pinned in the driver’s seat dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, paramedics rushed a passenger from the Kenworth and two occupants inside the Mazda to a hospital for minor injuries.

California Highway Patrol closed down Caliente Bodfish Road for several hours as officials investigated the scene. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be a factor. However, an active investigation is still currently underway.
