Huntington Beach Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Collision near Santa Maria Street

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA (May 21, 2024) Antonio Huerta was killed Sunday morning in a hit-and-run bicycle collision on Slater Avenue and Santa Maria Street.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:00 a.m.

Investigators say the driver of an eastbound vehicle swerved into the bicycle lane and struck the victim. However, the driver did not stop and fled the scene before authorities could arrive.

Paramedics transported the bicyclist to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries on Monday. Fountain Valley officials identified the deceased as 52-year-old Huerta from Huntington Beach.

No further information about the suspect or the suspect’s vehicle has been released at this time. Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the fatal hit-and-run to contact local police immediately.
