It seemed like all of LA came out for Shoreline Mafia’s sold-out homecoming at the Kia Forum last Thursday, Oct. 23, as part of their “Back in Bidness” Tour, their first official LA show as a group in six years.
The rap duo made up of OhGeesy and Fenix Flexin made waves with their 2017 mixtape debut ShorelineDoThatShit, quickly becoming a fan favorite for their street storytelling and grimy bangers, especially among LA’s Latino community — OhGeesy is Mexican and Fenix Flexin is Black and Mexican.
They followed it up with several releases, but briefly disbanded in 2020 to pursue solo careers — which they did successfully — only to reunite for OhGeesy’s solo show at the Palladium in October 2023. They made good on that reteam with Back in Bidness, their second full-length studio album dropped in April of this year, and a slew of catchy singles, including “HEAT STICK,” “ROCKIN,” and the YG supported “HOLLYWOOD.”
Thursday’s show was a nonstop showcase of the team and their collaborators, delivering many of their modern LA classics, like “Musty,” “Nun Major,” “Bands,” “Fell in Love,” and collabs with 03 Greedo, “Wake Me up in Traffic” and “Trap House.”
The 12,000 fans were treated to not one but — we counted eight — special guests who came out for the show, starting with Mike Sherm who performed “Talkin Shit,” BlueBucksClan and Peysoh. An injured 310babii made it up the stage in crutches and performed the OhGeesy and BlueBucksClan collab “rock your hips” and his hit “Soak City,” then Coi Leray did her collab with Shoreline, “Act Like You Know.”
Ty Dolla $ign graced the stage, performing his seminal “Paranoid,” followed by Big Sean who got the crowd screaming “I Don’t Fuck With You.” The group closed out the night with YG performing “HOLLYWOOD.”
That’s basically a mini-festival, and it left the throngs of fans (many wearing a limited release Shoreline Mafia/Born x Raised merch, which we’re told sold out in 30 minutes) hyped, and looking forward to what the duo will cook up next for us.
