From Australia to America: Kate Hardy, Founder of Home & Laundry, Transforms Everyday Cleaning into Luxury

Eco-friendly. Effortless. Elegant. That’s the new face of cleaning, thanks to Australian entrepreneur Kate Hardy. Her brand, Home & Laundry, is leading a quiet revolution in the way families think about everyday chores, replacing plastic jugs and harsh chemicals with plant-based, biodegradable luxury. And now, Hardy’s mission to make sustainability beautiful has arrived in the United States, capturing the attention of eco-conscious consumers from New York to Los Angeles.

When Kate Hardy looks around her home, she doesn’t just see a space to live in; she sees a reflection of care, beauty, and intention. Kate Hardy is the founder and CEO of Home & Laundry, an Australian-born brand that’s redefining the way families approach everyday cleaning. She’s on a mission to prove that practical essentials can also be luxurious, sustainable, and beautiful.

A busy mum of three, Kate knows firsthand how relentless family life can be and how easily sustainability can slip through the cracks when convenience takes over. “I love my home,” she says, “and I spent so many years designing it. But I was forever in the laundry and thought, I just want something that looks beautiful, but also works great and is good for the environment and our skin.

That desire for products that were safe, effective, and elegant sparked what would become Home & Laundry, a brand that’s turning an ordinary household chore into an experience worth savoring.

Where Luxury Meets the Laundry Room

When Hardy launched her company in Australia, she was determined to challenge the status quo of bulky plastic jugs and harsh chemical detergents. “Everything came in plastic, huge containers that end up in the bin, and we don’t even know if they get recycled,” she explains. “I wanted to remove that waste completely.”

Her answer was to create ultra-thin, biodegradable laundry sheets and pods, a mess-free, plastic-free alternative that delivers powerful cleaning performance. “There’s no mess, no pouring, no powder,” she says. “You just pop one sheet in the washing machine, and away you go.”

That same thinking inspired Home & Laundry’s dishwasher innovations, replacing traditional tablets and gels with low-waste solutions that are as effective as they are elegant. Designed with plant-based, high-performance ingredients, the dishwashing eco sheets and pods cut through grease with ease and come in fully eco-friendly packaging.

Today, Home & Laundry offers both eco sheets and eco pods for laundry and dishwasher use, providing customers a complete range of minimalist, sustainable cleaning options that elevate everyday routines while reducing waste.

Where Sustainability Meets Sophistication

In a market that often forces consumers to choose between eco-friendliness and aesthetic appeal, Hardy refused to compromise. “If you want something environmentally conscious, it’s usually not very nice looking,” she laughs. “I wanted something I could proudly keep on my benchtop and feel a little bougie about.”

That attention to design, minimalist packaging, neutral tones, and refined presentation has helped Home & Laundrystand out in a crowded market. Every detail, from the biodegradable formula to the paper stickers that seal the boxes, reinforces Hardy’s commitment to sustainability without sacrificing style.

The result is a collection of cleaning essentials that look like they belong in a high-end home store, not hidden under the sink. “I spent a lot of time designing my laundry,” she admits. “So, of course, I wanted something that fit the aesthetic.”

From Australia to America

After building a loyal following at home, Hardy decided it was time to bring Home & Laundry across the Pacific. The brand’s U.S. debut is already turning heads, especially in California, where eco-conscious luxury is a way of life.

“California just made sense,” she says. “People here really value products that are clean, sustainable, and beautiful. It’s the perfect fit.”

During her recent appearance on The Rhonda Swan Show: Wake Up SoCal Edition, Hardy discussed her excitement about introducing American families to the concept of elevated everyday cleaning. “We know the U.S. loves their bougie,” she said with a grin, “and they’re very eco-friendly, so we thought, why not?

Her timing couldn’t be better. Consumers are increasingly seeking products that align with their values: cleaner ingredients, less waste, and a touch of sophistication. Home & Laundry manages to hit all three.

A Fresh Perspective on Family Life

At its core, Hardy’s brand isn’t just about laundry sheets and pods or cleaning products. It’s about reimagining how we interact with our homes. “For me, cleaning isn’t a chore, it’s part of caring for my family and creating a space that feels good,” she explains. “I wanted to design something that helps people enjoy those little moments, rather than just get through them.”

That philosophy is resonating with a new generation of consumers, especially parents who, like Hardy, want to make responsible choices without compromising on quality or design. “It’s about empowering families to care for their homes without compromise,” she says. “Safe, sustainable, and beautifully refined.”

Looking ahead, Hardy has no plans to slow down. With Home & Laundry now available through its website, TikTok Shop, and Amazon, she’s focused on expanding the product range and continuing to push boundaries in sustainable home care.

“Luxury and sustainability don’t have to be opposites,” Hardy insists. “They can coexist, beautifully.”
