Sophie Rain has zero regrets about choosing to become an OnlyFans creator, especially since she’s made more then $50 million since joining the platform — but she admits it isn’t for everyone.
20-year-old Rain turned to the subscription-based platform primarily known for its adult content after growing up in poverty and struggling to make ends meet after high school. As a waitress, she couldn’t do much to help her parents who were still living paycheck to paycheck and relying on food stamps. And when she lost that job, she decided her only option was to make her budding social media career work.
Rain said of the decision: “I knew that I needed to make money somehow because my only vision was helping my family. That’s all I wanted to do.”
But even though she turned to OnlyFans, she knew she didn’t want to make pornographic content. Instead, Rain branded herself as a proud Christian virgin woman, but one who was willing to wear suggestive clothes and pose in very suggestive poses. It was a very different strategy than most other OnlyFans stars and people were skeptical.
“People told me I wouldn’t make money being a virgin on OnlyFans,” she said. “But I stayed true to myself, and it worked.”
It sure did. She’s made millions since joining the platform, much of which she now uses to help her family — starting with paying off her parents’ $15,000 property tax debt, and buying them them a new refrigerator and car.
She spoke about the generosity, saying: “My dad cried when I paid off the taxes. It’s a moment I’ll never forget. All I ever wanted was for them to stop worrying about money.”
And Rain vows that she’ll never have to worry about it again either. Despite making millions of dollars, she isn’t blowing the money on extravagant vehicles or jewlery. Instead, she claims that she saves 70% of her income and invests carefully so she can live on this money for the rest of her life.
But despite all the success, she acknowledges that it isn’t an easy career.
“This job is also so much harder on the mind than you could ever think. OnlyFans is not always this glamorous, perfect lifestyle on social media. There are only so many girls who can achieve what I have.”
That’s why she always tells people who ask her for advice that they should keep their options open before deciding to join the platform. She said, “I encourage anyone to make sure you try other things before this job.”
Rain feels that she didn’t have many options because of her background.
“Unfortunately, I didn’t have the luxury of going to college because my parents didn’t have the money. If you have the chance and the ability to study, do that first. I think everyone should get an education — get your degree, girls. OnlyFans should be a last resort.”
It may have been Rain’s last resort, but it’s been a lucrative one. She credits her success to luck, timing, and a solid social media presence when she got started.
“I got extremely lucky. You have to work super hard to push yourself out there and stay on people’s minds constantly. I’m proud of myself and love being the number one girl on OnlyFans.”
But as Rain said, not everyone can do it. But if it’s something you’re interested in, keep in mind that last reason Rain thinks she is successful: a strong social media presence. She warns wannabe OnlyFans creators: “Do not start OnlyFans unless you already have a social media platform or you will fail.”
