It is always an event when the collaborative ensemble String Theory brings out its signature long harps, some of which stretch up to 1000 feet. While many theaters pose a serious spatial challenge when it comes to fitting the harps onto the stage, one sympatico venue is the al fresco environs of this amphitheater that allows the harp to extend over the audience along the entire length of the theater. Led by Luke and Holly Rothschild, this collaborative ensemble of composers and musicians also includes wonderful dancers who not only bring life to the evolutionary music, but in what has been dubbed sonic sculpture, are choreographed by Holly Rothschild into the instruments in ways that allows them to play the music while dancing. The evening includes special guest singer/songwriter David Poe. If you missed String Theory's sold out performance at the Broad earlier this year, here's a chance to enjoy this unique ensemble under the stars. John Anson Ford Amphitheater, 2579 Cahuenga Blvd. East, Hlywd.; Thurs., Sept. 15, 8:30 p.m.; $25, students & seniors $12. (323) 461-3673.
