The Brothers Sun Family Pops Up at 626 Night Market In Arcadia

On Saturday, Jan. 6, Netflix and 626 Night Market kicked off a special two-day event at Santa Anita Park, to celebrate the launch of The Brothers Sun. Cast members in attendance at The Brothers Sun x 626 Night Market Pop-Up Mini included Michelle Yeoh, Justin Chien, Sam Song Li, Highdee Kuan, Joon Lee, Alice Hewkin, Jon Xue Zhang, Jenny Yang and Madison Hu. 

The event, which featured more than three dozen food, art and merchandise vendors in Arcadia, as well as a performance by GRV Dance Crew, who also appears in the series, paid homage to the San Gabriel Valley, where the Taiwanese family saga and crime drama takes place.

Food vendors featured items named after characters from the series like the Charles’ Dirty Churro Latte from Bluey & Co, Jade Dragon’s Fire Balls and Mama Sun’s Wonton Soup from All Dat Dumpling, and Bleeding Sun, Burning Sun, Broken Sun Yakisoba from Tokyo Yakisoba.

According to the synopsis of the series produced by Brad Falchuk streaming now, a powerful Taiwanese triad is shot by a mysterious assassin and his eldest son and killer Charles “Chairleg” Sun heads to Los Angeles to protect his mother, Eileen, played by Yeoh, and his naive younger brother, Bruce (Sam Song Li). While Taipei’s deadliest societies and a new rising faction go head-to-head for dominance, Charles, Bruce and their mother must heal the wounds caused by their separation and figure out what brotherhood and family truly mean before one of their countless enemies kills them all. 

“Thank you San Gabriel Valley for all your love and cooperation that made it possible for us to film here and have such a great time,” Yeoh told the crowd. “We had too much good food and we were all worried we wouldn’t fit into our costumes, but somehow we figured it out.”
